Many patients presents with a locking, or triggering, of the finger. The flexor tendons become ensared by the a1 pulley leading to a clicking.
If untreated, the finger can be stuck into the palm and require force to pull it out of the palm. We use steroidal injections at first to address the issue before proceeding to surgery.
Dr. Anup Patel makes a small incision over the a1 pulley and uses precise dissection to protect important nerves and vessels to the operated finger.
The a1 pulley is fully released and the patient in the operating room is asked to move the finger to ensure no triggering persists.
